Hawaii inmate lookup is a crucial service for families and loved ones of individuals incarcerated in the various correctional facilities across the state. Understanding the options available and the processes involved can help make the search for incarcerated persons more manageable. This guide provides an overview of the main institutions and resources available for locating inmates in Hawaii.

The Hawaii Department of Public Safety (DPS) is responsible for overseeing and maintaining correctional facilities within the state. The Corrections Division, a branch of the DPS, specifically focuses on managing and supervising the state's prisons and jails. The DPS is also responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of inmates, as well as providing opportunities for rehabilitation and reentry into society.

Hawaii has four main state prisons, which include the Halawa Correctional Facility, Waiawa Correctional Facility, Kulani Correctional Facility, and the Women's Community Correctional Center. To locate an inmate within the Hawaii state prison system, visit the Hawaii DPS website. Alternatively, you can contact the facility directly by phone to inquire about an inmate.

In addition to state prisons, Hawaii also houses a federal detention center, the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Honolulu. This facility is managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). To locate a federal inmate in Hawaii, visit the BOP's inmate locator tool on their website. You can search for an inmate using their name, BOP registration number, or other identifying information. Keep in mind that federal inmates may be held in facilities outside of Hawaii, so the search will cover the entire federal prison system.

Hawaii has four main county jails, one for each of the state's major counties: Hawaii County, Honolulu County, Kauai County, and Maui County. These county jails are managed by their respective county police departments. To locate an inmate in a county jail, contact the appropriate county police department or visit their website to access their inmate search or booking information.

If you're in search of information on individuals who are either on parole status or awaiting release from prison in Hawaii, you can get in touch with the Hawaii Parole Authority. This board has set up a hotline that you can contact at (808) 587-1300 to inquire about specific cases or potential parolees across all three of the state's islands - Oahu, Maui, and Big Island.

When you call the hotline, you will typically be asked for basic information such as the individual's name and date of birth. Therefore, it's important to have these details readily available to make the most of this resource.

The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) platform is a free, anonymous, and confidential service that allows individuals to track and receive notifications about the custody status of offenders in Hawaii. To use the VINE platform, visit the Hawaii VINE website or download the mobile app. You can search for an offender using their name, offender number, or other identifiers. Once you have located the inmate, you can register to receive notifications about changes in their custody status, such as transfers or releases.
